Class Descriptions
HYROX is a functional workout. It is based on three important factors: endurance, strength, and speed. The competition consists of 1 km of running and 1 functional workout, repeated 8 times. Every task is based on everyday movements, so it’s achievable for anyone. In our training sessions, we strive to push your limits to get the most out of yourself and develop these skills to the fullest. We often use ergometer machines in this class. In these cases, we focus on expanding the athletes’ endurance so they can train for longer periods. This is great for increasing lung capacity and improving the circulatory system.
Starting in January, you can try a new type of workout at Viggo Gym, where we combine popular CROSS training exercises and equipment (TRX, kettlebell and dumbbell, medicine ball, sandbags, etc.) while building a “turtle shell” on our abs and creating a core that is strong in every direction, flexible, yet stable (using minibands, rubber bands, bosu, stability boards, dynair, etc.). Do you know what HIIT means? It’s okay if you don’t, you’ll find out! I’ll give you a hint: everyone from beginners to advanced will break a sweat! When should you join this workout? If you’re looking for strength training alongside running, triathlon, or obstacle training that effectively works your whole body, has a preventive approach, and prepares and moves the right muscles without using unnecessarily heavy weights. What should you bring? A towel, a water bottle, and indoor shoes.
We start the class with tuning in/meditation. Looking inward helps prepare the body and soul for the day’s practice. Then we continue with a warm-up before moving on to a more dynamic practice where stretching and strengthening tasks alternate. This part will be the flow section, where we move from one asana to the next in a choreographed manner. We repeat the sequence a few more times and then close the class with relaxation after cool-down stretches.
In our workouts, besides developing strength and endurance, we place great emphasis on strengthening the core muscles, all with a preventive approach and different levels of difficulty, making it recommended for both beginners and advanced participants. During the sessions, we use bodyweight exercises and various equipment.
